i've sometimes wondered what john lennon would be like if he were alive today..having read so much about him being an activist for peace and about the tragic way in which he died..and lo and behold..there was an article about that very topic in today's TODAY coz this sunday would've been his 65th birthday if he were still alive..
the TODAY paper always has good articles..i love neil humphrey's saturday column...incidentally he also wrote the john lennon article..ya so his other article today was about how singaporeans don't seem to be able to do anything right if they're not told how to do so by the gahmen(as he calls it)...even though his articles are always humorous, they really do speak the truth about the issues he raises..they always make me realise that even though our society seems fine on the surface..when you look just a little deeper at some of the things we do, there's something really wrong with us..like the recent incident regarding the white elephants at the buangkok mrt station..a few harmless placards caused such a big ruckus because some uptight singaporeans are so afraid of straying from norms that they just had to call the police...even a peaceful voicing of opinions couldn't be taken lightly..i don't know..i just find it a bit sad..many of us here walk the straight and narrow path and are just so afraid to leave it and try other things..it's not the government at fault..it's the people a lot of the time..so uptight..so unable to do the right things if not told how to do them..read his article if you can!
